Week 5 Recap!

Hello, everyone!  For those that have called - please accept my sincere appologies for not getting blog updated before now! :)

Week 5 was an exciting week as each of our remaining contestants did an outstanding job!  The Yarboro Family joined us for a special performance as well.  If you weren't there, you truly missed a great event! 

Here's how things played out with our contestants (ranked in order):

Only the top three were able to make it through to the grand finale, so it meant the end of the road in the competition for Russell, Sarah, Lindsey and Tara.  You each should hold your head high and be proud of your progress!

Week 4 Recap!

The weather may have cooled down a little, but the competition on stage is really starting to heat up!  This week, your top 9 performed two songs each.  Here's how it all played out for each contestant in order that they are currently ranking in the competition:

Unfortunately, this was end of the road in the competition for April, Brandon and Bernie.  They should be proud of the progress they made!

At the end of the night there wasn't a dry eye in the house when Felix Harrison gave up his place in the competition so that his sister, Kerry, could have another shot. 

Congratulations to the remaining 12 contestants!  The competition is taking a step up in intensity this week as there will be 3 people eliminated as we take another step toward picking the 2011 Southside Super Star!

Week 1 - 2010 Opening Night!

We're off to a great start!  This past Friday marked the opening of the 2010 Southside Super Star Singing Competition!  We had 15 of the areas best vocal talent perform one song each.  Below is a list of the event's outcome in terms of contestant rank:

All of the contestants did a terrific job - many of whom had never performed in front of a large audience before.  This was the case for Kayla Hairston.  Luis Correa dropped out of the competition and Kayla Hairston was eliminated.  We wish the best of luck and trust that they will continue to sing God's praises and join us back next year!

Week 5 (GRAND FINALE!) Recap!

Wow!  The first Southside Super Star Christian & Gospel Edition was a success, to say the least!  The contestants all shined, bringing back their best performance of the prior weeks of competition.  Kenny Seale (2009 Southside Super Star Spring Competition Winner), Amy Trusedale-Hodges (Assistant Music Director from Riveroak Church of God) and Andrew Smith (Minister of Music from North Main Baptist Church) were our judges.  Here's the run-down on what they sang and their scores:

After the contestants last performance, the audience was given one last chance to vote.  While we enjoyed a TERRIFIC presentation from the Drama Team from CrossPoint Church in Bassett, Virginia, staff was busy counting votes and running talley's to determine the contests winners!
